Subject: It's Monday...
...and just when you thought your Thursdays were a lost cause, the NFL brings the Thursday night games back.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the first half of the season has been played, and it's time for the Thursday night games to start.
To celebrate, this week's Monday morning mailing is an abbreviated one. Look for the weekly summary on Thursday, and consider keeping your Thursday evening free.
I'll also mention that next week's Monday Night bar will be in Las Vegas, NV -- a town that still has rooms and cheap flights available. Come join us!
And that brings us to tonight's game...
The Game
=== ====
Tonight, the 5-2 Pittsburgh Steelers go to Cincinnati to take on the 2-5 Bengals on the FieldTurf of Paul Brown Stadium.
The Steelers need this win to stay tied with Baltimore at the top of the AFC North. Cincinnati is already pretty much out of the postseason running, but T.O. and Ochocinco both seem to be attracted to national TV broadcasts, so they'll likely play as if the T.Ocho show contract depended on it.
Last year Pittsburgh lost to Cincinnati in week 10, starting a five game losing streak that took them out of the playoffs.
The Line
=== ====
Pittsburgh is favored by 5. The over/under is 41.
Last week, the Smart Money lost by a half-point on the over/under. It falls to 6-6, representing a loss of 4.55%. So far this season, the S&P500 has returned 11.34%
This week, the Smart Money takes the over, and strongly considered the Bengals.
The Bar
=== ===
Baseball is over. We have a traditional bar for this week in the season. This year, its location is new for us. Yes, after 22 years on Beale Street, the Beale Street Bar and Grill has opened new digs on Minna, because of the Transbay Terminal construction.
